Voetspore op die Ewenaar
This time it is Voetspore on the Equator. Our journey takes us from the Indian to the Atlantic Ocean. We start on 1 June 2013 at Lamu on the Kenya coast. From there it is to Tsavo and Nairobi. In Uganda, we will visit the Ruwenzori’s and Murchison National Park. We’ll cross into the DRC and visit Randgold’s Kibali mine where many South African are working today. Next, we travel to Okapi National Park, and then Kisangani in the heart of Africa. At this city, we load the vehicles on a barge and float downstream for 1 700 km to Kinshasa. From Kinshasa, we travel downstream to Matadi and Muanda on the Atlantic Ocean. During this journey, we will cross the Equator several times. This is our shortest but also our longest journey. The most challenging thus far. This is Voetspore on the Equator.
